Global Education Summit 2012

The Global Education Summit—on Friday, February 24, 2012, at Monona Terrace in Madison—aims to bring together advocates from the business and education communities, as well as others, to explore concrete ways to collectively advance and promote international education in Wisconsin schools and communities.

The Wisconsin International Trade Council (1998) and the State Superintendent’s Statewide International Education Council, among others, examined and developed statewide recommendations to strengthen and expand global education in schools. This summit aims to move toward putting those recommendations into action, seeking clear commitments from all participating groups of stakeholders.
`
Between the opening general session and the closing plenary session, this daylong session has three distinct components: 1) Highlighting successful global education programs in Wisconsin’s schools (www.ecb.org/global); 2) discussing the fiscal, policy, and cultural environments for educating globally competent students; and 3), articulating clear and real community commitment to global and world education programs in Wisconsin’s schools.
